THE MARKETING TEAM
The Marketing Department at Portland Rescue Mission (PRM) is a group of dedicated professionals using their marketing skills to raise provision for life-restoring Christian ministry by excellence in fund raising and brand enhancement through direct mail, digital, social media, tele / radio-thons, media relations, and advertising support for PRM’s social enterprises.
Our goal is to tell the stories of what God is doing in the lives of the people we serve with integrity and excellence. In doing this, we honor the lives of those we serve and share their testimony in a way that invites others into partnership with PRM through service, prayer, and financial support.
THE POSITION
The Marketing Coordinator contributes to the efficient functioning of the Marketing Department by supporting the Marketing Communications Manager.
The scope of responsibility ranges from project management, resource gathering, digital support, event coordination, and content creation.
The right candidate will organize and execute the administrative tasks of the team with a customer-service attitude and will also have strong communication and writing skills.
THE ESSENTIALS
- Deadlines for ongoing marketing projects will be professionally supported, using Basecamp, tactical meetings, and one-on-one meetings with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and clarity
- Seasonal events including telethons, radiothons, and other special events will be coordinated and supported
- PRM’s brand narrative of Giving Hope and Restoring Life will be promoted by writing strategic and compelling content
- PRM supporters will be encouraged, educated, and motivated by well-crafted content across all our digital and social platforms in collaboration with the Digital Content Specialist and the Marketing Communications Manager
- PRM supporters will be encouraged and ministered to by compelling and engaging blog content highlighting stories of life-restoration, job openings, volunteer profiles, and PRM’s social enterprises
- The Marketing Department and their partnering vendors will have a steady influx of new stories including interviews and pictures that support seasonal themes and appeals
- The Director of Marketing will be free to focus on strategic leadership, knowing the Marketing Coordinator is providing reliable, detail-oriented administrative and project support for the Marketing Department including expense reports, vendor management, and customer service
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
- Create and maintain administrative systems for the Director of Marketing and the Marketing Department
- Communicate with appropriate parties for event and project coordination
- Support the Digital Content Specialist in the production of digital, social media, and blog content
- Work closely with other departments to ensure that our marketing efforts prioritize the recovery process of participants, and that the departments are supported and equipped to accomplish their goals
- Update and maintain the Marketing Department’s materials library to ensure most current information and materials are easily available to all appropriate staff
- Participate in staff meetings as required
- Assist in general Marketing Department projects including events, video & photo shoots, and activities
- Serve a minimum of two hours per week in a direct ministry role at one of PRM’s locations by providing compassionate care to the people served in PRM’s programs
BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree in related field or experience equivalent
- Marketing workplace experience preferred, especially in a cross-functional team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows software, especially Word and Excel
- Experience with project management software such as Basecamp and related CRM systems
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Professional, warm, and friendly demeanor
- Strong ability to identify and self-manage necessary tasks
- Advanced organizational abilities
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and a testimony of continued growth in faith
- Spiritual maturity as defined by traditional Biblical Standards
- Adheres to PRM's Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics
- Desire to serve God in the ministry to hurting men, women and children
