Associate Security Engineer
Job Description
Schedule : Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM Location : Ruan Center downtown Des Moines The Associate Security Engineer will Support Senior Engineers in operational efforts of the security stack.
They will provide infrastructure and security support for our entire virtual server and datacenter environment that included hybrid cloud infrastructure and security.
Administer and troubleshoot Office365 Cloud applications. Participate in licensing and software maintenance activities to ensure compliance, patching, and overall security.
Perform trouble ticket resolution within defined SLA's and documented procedures. Participate in disaster recovery testing exercises.
Participate in on-call rotation for critical security event escalations. Must be able to navigate and adapt to a fast-paced and ever-changing environment with a cross-functional team of like-minded Information Technology professionals. Responsibilities :
- Install and administer software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
- Perform daily Security Administration activities and ticket escalations according to SLA's.
- Monitor systems for irregular behavior and set up preventive measures.
- Respond to incidents and Security related tickets in a timely manner. Participate in on-call activities.
- Educate and train staff on information system security best practices.
- Develop and distribute security education and awareness materials.
- Develop, execute and track the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems.
- Identify, define and document system security requirements and recommend solutions to management.
- Configure, troubleshoot and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
- Perform other job-related and special projects as required.
Requirements
Education : Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
Course of Study : STEM related discipline, including Informatics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, and / or Security / Cybersecurity.

- Skills required in the following areas : Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows clustering concepts, network load balancing, Microsoft Active Directory, Office365, VMware vSphere, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
- Employee must possess and retain knowledge of current technologies.
- Employee must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of employees, management and service providers.
- Employee must have experience participating in team projects.
- Excellent problem-solving and planning skills necessary. Must have proven self-directed experience in SIEM Tools, XDR and / or Operational Security best practices.
- Working knowledge of one or more programming / script languages preferred. Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Google, or Azure) is a plus.
