Your New Role
This Production Assistant role is part of CNN’s Image+Sound Production Services unit. This team provides 24 / 7 production and editorial expertise to support CNN’s storytelling.
The Production Assistant is on the front lines of logging, identifying, and producing sound while adhering to the highest editorial & journalistic standards.
Your Role Accountabilities
Viewing video and creating descriptive narratives of visuals and sound that result in logs, shot sheets or transcripts for key video assets.
Supporting CNN’s television and digital platforms daily and oftentimes being the first set of eyes and ears on critical new elements.
Communicating with producers, newsgathering leaders, field producers, reporters, and others to help identify relevant information about the video you will log.
Production Assistants will have the opportunity to gain and demonstrate sound editorial judgment in their daily responsibilities.
This role is Atlanta based.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (typically in liberal arts such as journalism, English, political science) or similar demonstrated on the job experience.
Ability to successfully work in high pressure situations.
Demonstrated success working in a team environment.
A strong curiosity for current and historic events
A motivation to grow and adapt to a rapidly changing business
Typing skills (You must average 38-45 words per minute)
Command of the English language.
Ability to understand a variety of accents.
Willingness to stay focused for long periods of time while working in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Ability to work a variety of schedules, including weekends and holidays when needed.
Agility in work environment. Production Assistants may at times work on-site in an open workspace environment, or remotely via a company provided laptop.
