PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
DEFINITION Under immediate supervision, provides a variety of support and liaison services in all aspects of multimedia production and assists production and operation staff as needed.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This class is distinguished from other production related classes in the following ways : the Product Assistant is an entry-level classification providing day-to-day production support operates various production equipment.
Incumbents in the Production Assistant Bilingual / Biliterate (Spanish) are expected to perform duties of a Production Assistant, utilizing English and Spanish oral and written skills.
The Multimedia Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating production resources and personnel. The Multimedia Production Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the LACOE studio and management of the production budget and staff.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Immediate supervision is provided by a manager or supervisor. This position has no supervisory or lead responsibilities.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES The classification specification provides a summary of the typical job duties performed, along with the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this classification.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Acts as a liaison among authors, talent, production staff and clients in the development and the finalizing of program materials and scripts;
- Receives and formats script drafts for teleprompter
- Assists staff and management in researching new production equipment, stock photo and video clips, and location scouting
- Provides a variety of office support activities
- Maintains digital media library database
- Create labels and duplicates DVDs and CDs
- Prepares, loads, and operates various production equipment, such as camera lighting and audio equipment
- Transports production equipment to various sites
- Prepares production spaces for individual project needs
- Performs related duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS Knowledge :
- Proper usage of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Technical terminology associated with television and / or film productions
- Equipment procedures and processes related to multimedia production

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience : One year of full-time experience working at the professional level as a Production Assistant or a related position working with various production equipment for a television, film, or multimedia production company.
Education : Graduation from high school or equivalent
Equivalency Provision : Two years of college (i.e. 60 college semester units or 90 college quarter units) with major coursework in English, script writing, video / television production, cinema, communication, media production or related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation may substitute for six months of the required experience.
Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Additional Requirements / Information : A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites is required.
Incumbents in this classification will be required to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds and push objects weighing up to 150 pounds.
Must be able to climb and work from ladders up to 20 feet in height.
