Product Manager
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB :
The Product Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and launching new architectural finishes to market. They will rely upon their expert knowledge and experience of the architectural coatings market to identify unmet customer product needs, translate ideas into strategy, and guide product development from start to finish.
The Product Manager is also responsible for managing the product lifecycle all the way from strategic planning to tactical initiative.
They will regularly perform competitive and marketing analyses and capture voice of customer which is used to recommend strategies to improve product position and grow sales.
The Product Manager works to develop strong relationships between departments that allow for the smooth and efficient flow of product activities and the establishment of trust with crucial teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop product strategies and roadmaps to bring product to market
- Research voice of customer to better understand and define customer product needs
- Become an expert with respect to the competition
- Develop and recommend product line proposals
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop go-to-market strategies based on clear value propositions, core positioning and messaging for products
- Aid development of marcom and sales collateral
- Develop and lead the execution of product launch plans
- Brief and train the sales force at meetings
- Monitor product line sales, volume and profitability, and report results
- Propose budget plans
- Manage cross-functional activities to ensure product development priorities are met
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- 3 to 5 years of product management / marketing experience, preferred
- In depth knowledge of architectural coatings markets and product offerings, preferred
- Ability to influence acceptance and adoption of product strategy
- Manage a wide range of interactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate with numerous departments to meet goals and objectives
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
- A minimum of three (3) years experience as a Product Manager is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S.) from a four-year college or university and an MBA is preferred
- The Product Manager candidate must possess excellent team skills, and a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Manage a wide range of interactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Architectural coatings experience is a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
