This position is located at the DMV Warehouse in Sacramento.

If you are motivated and have excellent technical as well as verbal and written communication skills, the Materials Management Section wants you to be their next Warehouse Worker.
Under the supervision of a Materials and Stores Supervisor and Warehouse Manager II, the Warehouse Worker performs and is responsible for the efficient and proficient completion of all tasks and functions associated with the receipt, storage, inventory, and distribution of departmental Expendable and Accountable Items, materials, and supplies to internal and external customers statewide.
- The incumbent performs all duties, assignments, and tasks associated with the receipt, storage, inventory, and handling of all stock items maintained in the warehouse facility and received through the Headquarters East Dock location;
- receives, stores, and places all incoming items including mail carrier materials, messenger items, and vendor deliveries in appropriate staging or holding areas for processing;
- utilizes appropriate equipment to move, wrap, stage, stack, ship or assist with the loading and off-loading of transport vehicles;
- places materials and supplies in appropriate designated locations as directed or by using resource and reference materials that indicate stock locations;
and prepares all necessary stock shipping and receiving documents, Bills of Lading, invoices, purchase orders, freight worksheets, and other documents as needed for each order as appropriate.

The Salary Range Shown is the minimum and maximum for a full-time appointment. Salaries for part-time and / or intermittent appointments may vary.
Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position.

Working Conditions
A valid Class C California driver license is required. Must pass fingerprint and background clearances before hire. Required to lift 50 pounds or more on a continuous basis.

Requisite skills and abilities required of the classification :
- Must understand and practice OSHA regulations and possess a forklift certificate at all times. Knowledge of : methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, and shipping material and supplies;
- methods of packing and unpacking material and supplies; common forms and documents used in receiving and shipping departments of a governmental or commercial organization;
operation of forklift trucks and other types of materials handling equipment; methods of taking inventories; and maintaining simple inventory records.
Ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; make accurate computations relating to warehouse work; and follow instructions.
Physical abilities required of the vacant position :
Due to hazardous noise environment from operation of mailing machines, hearing protection is required at all times. Repetitive hand movements, standing for long periods of time, regularly lift, push / pull and carry bulk mail and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
and transport materials using mail cages with casters filled with mail that can weigh up to and over 100 lbs. Transport mailing materials on pallets using electric and hand-powered pallet jack and forklift.
