Responsibilities Include :
Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle, trailer and equipment inspections and completes driver's checklist in Fleetio.
Loads and unloads equipment in a safe manner by always utilizing the help of a second person, and ensures equipment is correctly secured on trailers.
Practices safe driving skills in all operating conditions (including "4 second rule") following all vehicular safety regulations and consistently using spotters.
Recognizes mechanical issues as they develop with engine, brakes and electrical systems and takes action when necessary to shut down and secure the machine to avoid additional damage;
reports maintenance needed and / or any damage to their Superintendent, Foreman and Shop Foreman.
Responsible for ensuring material is loaded safely and efficiently (ensures not overweight, no debris, etc.) and safely transports to jobsites and / or plants.
Can follow GPS and get to job sites and to material sources in a timely manner.
Spreads and dumps gravel efficiently; spots truck into paver and places material as directed.
Performs non-driving, general labor duties as needed and / or directed.
Provides materials' tickets to the Foreman daily so Foreman can complete their work.
Maintains a clean truck to include spraying down of trailers when needed and practices good housekeeping on all equipment.
Ensures truck is fueled each night.
Follows all safety rules and regulations and practices preventive safety measures; wears required PPE.

Requirements :
Must have a CDL Class A.

Job Summary Under direct supervision of the Transportation Manager a dump truck driver is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of over-the-road dump trucks and trailers for various applications including the hauling and dumping of aggregates and spoils for commercial excavation, earth moving, site preparation, road building, and utility projects.
Truck drivers are also responsible for loading, securing, and moving heavy equipment between job sites. Responsibilities and Duties Safely and efficiently drive and operate well maintained 8 axle Dump truck and trailer / side dump.
Deliver sand and gravel products to customer job sites, puts and plants. Spread and stockpile per order. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues.
Document and log work / rest periods and miles spent driving. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions. Collect and verify delivery instructions. Report defects, accidents or violations.
Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Valid CDL Class A license required. 2+ years proven truck driving record.
Clean driving record with no moving violations. Proficient using GPS and other routing systems. Willing to submit to background / drug checks and provide previous employment records.

Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
