The Role :
Complex is looking for a stellar Social Media Editor to join the social media team. This person is responsible for managing Complex social platforms;
Instagram, Twitter, & Facebook from Mondays through Fridays 5pm-1am ET. You will help strengthen our voice & explore new platforms.
We are looking for a go-getter & someone who will take our social channels to the next level. This position will work is NY or LA based.
You Will :
- Post editorial features across Complexs Twitter, Facebook & Instagram
- Post videos, both social cuts & original content, to all of Complexs social channels
- Post breaking or trending news to all of Complexs social channels
- Source UGC content, follow approval protocols & post to Complexs social channels
- Work in Adobe Photoshop to create original social assets for posting
- Work in AV Slater, PubHub & other internal websites to pull assets & post to Complexs social channels
- Work in Slack, Email & on Google Meets to communicate with the rest of the Social team
- Master Complexs editorial voice & tone
- Work alongside the Complex Main Social Editor to build a social posting calendar
- Participate in program, project, & show brainstorms & share creative ways to adapt content distributed across social
- Collaborate with social editors to roll out stories, breaking news, & shows across social during the night / weekend hours
- Surface & pitch viral, breaking, & social-friendly content to our news team
- Support the Social team as needed
You Have :
- Proven understanding of all social media platforms. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok)
- Familiarity with Complex content, tone, & voice
- Impeccable organizational skills & the need to constantly improve on & develop internal processes
- Possess a knowledge of current events & have a knack for catching trending pop culture, music, sports, & sneaker stories at the cusp of their virality
- Proficiency in Slack & email communications
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop (Adobe suite is a plus)
- Ability to work well on teams in a hybrid environment, have strong communication skills (both verbal & written), never overlook the details, & are exemplary in managing your own time
- Must be willing to work nights & weekends / holidays for coverage
- Must be able to problem solve on their own while the Social team is offline
- Positive, intuitive, & always proactive
- Innately curious & a problem solver
