Job Objective :
As the Security Monitor you will be responsible to protect The Salvation Army Women and Children’s Center’s property, residents, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

Complete hourly rounds of the main shelter building, domestic violence program building, parking areas, green spaces, etc.
completing required documentation.
- Monitor surveillance system, following up on questionable activities or circumstances.
- Cover Intake area during break periods of Advocacy staff.
- Assist janitorial staff as needed.
- Other tasks as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications : The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and / or abilities required for this position.
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.
Background Checks : Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position.
Experience : Experience dealing with culturally diverse individuals preferred.
Certifications : Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills / Abilities :
- Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
- Critical thinking skills, ability to remain calm when an individual is angry.

Physical Requirements Include :
- Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
- Lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 50 pounds
- May require bending, squatting, walking
- May require standing for extended periods
Travel : Position may require occasional travel for training
Working Conditions : Work will be performed both inside and outside the building. Position is part-time, requires weekend and evening work.
