The DSO serves as an alternate and back up to the Ship Security Officer.The DSO attends to all Security matters such as Access control onboard and to the vessel; This includes restricted areas onboard and the integrity of all access points to the vessel.The DSO serves as a specialist with regards to shipboard access control, security screening procedures, equipment maintenance, operational training and quality including X-ray CBT modules and Inert threat items testing. As directed by the Security Officer, the DSO will lead or assist in investigating and documenting security incidents, crime allegations or security matters onboard and liaising with local authorities and law enforcement agencies.
