Job Summary
Supervisor, Security Management will assist the Director with responsibilities for all security functions and activities in and around the UMC main hospital and assigned campus locations
Reports to : Security Captain
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to :
- Supervise a team of security officers to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff in accordance with standards and regulations set by the accreditation agency and the hospital’s standards of excellence practice
- Facilitate training and orientation for new team members in the security department
- Facilitate in service and documentation of training, including competency testing for employees of security department team
- Assist with facilitation, implementation, and execution of department programs, to include, but not limited to, lost and found, crime prevention, body transportation, locksmith and key entry access, inspections, etc
- Facilitate fire safety trainings including fire drills, fire extinguisher inspections, and training staff how to respond to alarms and emergencies including but not limited to acts of God, bomb threats, active shooter, patient or family emotional distress calls, etc...
- All other assigned duties related to UMC Security department
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of Security officer, law enforcement, or military experience
- 2 years of leadership experience leading people or processes
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
- Current Level III Security License issued through Texas DPS
- Valid class C Texas Driver License
Skills and Abilities
- High level of knowledge in security operations and functions.
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Working knowledge of computer hardware and software that can be utilize for training purposes
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position will work closely with hospital staff, department leaders, medical staff, local and state law enforcement, TDCJ, private prison staff, vendors, contractors, and medical examiner’s office.
Physical Capabilities
Extremely heavy physical effort (lift / carry up to 50lbs or more). Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing / walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and stooping, to move patients, at times.
Near visual acuity and depth perception along with excellent hearing needed
Environmental Working Conditions
This position is exposed to indoor and outdoor changing temperatures. Exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious organisms, agents and toxic chemicals is high.
