Mission of the Job :
Lead, manage and execute multiple strategic major manufacturing innovation or step change programs within the Semiconductor Chamber Solutions Division.
The Strategic Projects Manager (SPM) works to ensure that the programs deliver to the divisional manufacturing strategy within agreed timelines, budgetary requirements and with Voice of the Customer, Safety and Quality built into program requirements.
The SPM will be responsible for translating the divisional manufacturing strategy into real time programs and project plans in the product companies and where relevant leveraging capability across other Semiconductor Divisions to drive operational agility, adaptability, speed of execution and improved effectiveness & efficiency.
Main Responsibilities :
Drive execution & implementation of programs that have critical impact on Division operations strategy; initiatives could include but not be limited to : Execution of programs developing future capacity through manufacturing centers and / or distributed manufacturing capability leveraging capability across all Semiconductor divisionsImplement new manufacturing technologies with the goal of providing enhanced manufacturing performance and / or cost, maintaining or improving our competitive advantage.
Focus on designing and operating advanced integrated systems which may include computer networks, cobots, high-tech tools, and laboratory equipment, to produce high-quality products.
Ensure planned benefits from the strategic programs can be realized leading to improved Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Environment (SQDCPE).
Manufacturing capacity and capability are in place to implement program. Delivery on time and budget targets are met.
Work with Central teams, general managers and their teams to share, take input and drive the roadmap, project plan and resource for all program workstreams.
Building a detailed understanding of the current operations environment and challenges to be faced and removed as part of the execution approach.
Work closely with Product Company (PC) and other Divison project and leadership teams to ensure smooth execution and delivery of strategic operations & manufacturing programs, ensuring the resources are aligned to the program as required;
build & develop the correct skills & tools required to deliver projects.
- Manage strategic project team members and drive personal development plans to ensure continued and expanding capability and including ensuring succession plans are clear & in place.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge on facility, product design, manufacture, and assembly techniques especially with regard to market & geo-political volatility.
- Ensure compliance with international standards such as ISO9000, TS16949, ISO14001, ISO 45000 e.t.c.
Scope of the job :
Provides program and project management solutions for a business with annual output in revenue terms of around US$500M and employing >
500 people in manufacturing related processes.
- Global role, based in one of the product companies (USA or Japan) or the Home Office (UK) with travel as needed to other locations including supplier and / or customer sites.
- Working in the divisional team, with 3 direct reports plus strong influence over manufacturing teams, in the product companies, in addition to influencing leadership teams from other Semiconductor Divisions in the successful execution of key capacity growth and innovation programs / projects.
- Exact number of projects under the purview of this role will depend on scale and complexity.
Skills / Knowledge / Experience
Skills :
Excellent influencing, negotiation skills at multiple organizational levels, including executive level. Must be able to analyze complex program requirements, identify key phases & workstreams.
Well organized, displaying clear, rational and analytical approach to problem solving and planning. Remains calm under pressure and has the ability to find creative and pragmatic solutions.
Willing to look for / explore new solutions or methods. Flexibility to travel to multiple Edwards locations nationally and internationally on a regular basis.
Ability to manage performance of 3rd party service providers, to ensure services deliver value for money
Qualifications / Education / Certifications :
Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Engineering, Science, or closely related discipline.
Recognized Project or Program Management certification desirable.
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years with demonstrated ability to deliver large complex manufacturing programs. Previous management experience in an engineering / manufacturing company is preferred.
Experience in leading quality and other improvement projects. Demonstrated skill and achievement in implementing Lean practices in a manufacturing environment.
Solid experience with successful execution of innovation, step change or transformation programs.
