AMETEK Programmable Power is leading manufacturer of programmable power supplies and modular instrumentation and systems.
The company provides the most advanced Programmable Power and Instrumentation solutions for Precision Stimulus, Process, Measurement and Switching applications.
We also provide deep expertise in DAQ and Functional Test applications. This position will a key member of the Operations Team at Energy Conversion Systems / Programmable Power ( $185M) headquartered in San Diego, CA.
The Director of Manufacturing is a key role in the senior leadership team reporting to our VP of Operations. This position will lead the manufacturing group in the successful execution of our day to day activities and prepare the organization for additional growth.
In this role you will oversee the manufacturing / production areas of this facility and provide needed support to outside manufacturing services for some of our PCBAs and other high level subassemblies.
Upcoming projects that this position will be involved in as a key contributor and process owner are : Oracle ERP implementation, additional outsourcing of PCBAs, transition additional production to low-cost regions, etc.
as we continue to expand our San Diego capability to support new products and future M&As opportunities. This multitask role will require the ability to service both internal and external customers while navigating the organization toward efficiency and manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop resources to effectively deliver revenue and product quality goals on a monthly basis with effective daily work practices and driving continuous improvement activities throughout the organization.
- Effective in managing in an ERP driven manufacturing environment for a mix of build to stock, assemble to order and build to order products.
- Experience with managing with KPIs and driving improvements using continuous improvement toolsets to drive root cause / corrective action activities in a team environment
- Experience with ASC606(cost to cost) revenue recognition standard.
- Critical team member for upcoming Oracle ERP conversion
- Support outsourcing of volume PCBA’s to low cost region to leverage internal capabilities for high mix / low volume for growing global customer base
- Analysis on current and future labor and absorption for NPD product intended for manufacturing at our main manufacturing facility.
- Support FG outsourcing programs in Ametek low cost region to expand manufacturing footprint in support of sales growth strategy.
- Manage the balance between product phase out to minimize E&O inventory
- Manage factory resources and capabilities to meet dynamic demand of run rate products and larger customer program needs.
- Standardize processes, systems, policies, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvements and develop capital equipment strategies.
- Developing effective relationships with all functions within the organization.
- Developing an effective team through the selection, training, development, and motivation of all personnel.
Requirements for Consideration
- Bachelor’s degree; MBA or MS in Operations a plus.
- Experience leading a large team in a $100M organization.
- 10 years in electronics manufacturing with progression to full product line responsibility
- Experience within electronics manufacturing preferred, especially a background in a very high mix PCBA assembly environment
- Experience must be with a world class manufacturing company that has long term record of deploying lean manufacturing principles
- Balances strategic long-term initiatives with achievement of tactical short-term goals
- Proven change agent able to assert new business processes with confidence, credibility and determination in an electronics manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable skills in use of tools to track projects to on time, on budget completion.
- Leadership & ability to influence others away from the status quo
- Strategic planning and strategic execution
- Experience transitioning legacy ERP systems to modern standards / Power BI or Oracle a plus
- Ability to be a coach and mentor to a highly capable and energetic team
- Must exhibit strong leadership skills, both with subordinates and peers, with emphasis on relationship development and implementation of company culture improvement initiatives.
- Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal executive presence

Salary Range :
The annual pay range for this position generally ranges between $160,000 to 200,000. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
