Assistant Nurse Manager
PRIMARILY 7AM - 4PM WITH FLEXIBILITY.
Job Summary :
Work in collaboration with Nurse Manager. Provide day to day leadership and management of 24 hour / 7 days a week Hospital unit.
Develop and supervise staff and support overall department administration. Manage staffing / scheduling, budget, staff regulatory compliance.
Ensure daily decisions are consistent with service quality, clinical quality, utilization of resources and fiscal outcomes.
Assist in the development of departmental policies. Act on behalf of manager. Collaborate / coordinate with physicians, clinics, Urgent care, Ambulatory Surgery Center, EPRO, and other hospital departments.
Utilize continuous improvement philosophy with department / staff. Assist in accreditation processes with state and federal agencies.
Ensure hospital quality metrics are met and practices are consistent with national requirements. Make administrative decisions and provide direction, supervision and assistance with operational issues for the Capitol Hill Campus in the absence of other hospital managers.
Respond to urgent hospital system needs during designated hours.
Essential Responsibilities :
Day to day management of the Central Hospital Inpatient Services department (Med / Surg / Tele). Assures competency, quality and adequate staffing levels of healthcare providers in hospital unit.
Develops, monitors and enforces consistent standards of practice and continuing competency mechanisms. Develops and maintains systems to meet cost, quality and service goals.
Develops and provides education in support of these outcomes. Works collaborative with and supports medical providers.
Performance Management : develops an engaged staff, leads, manages, recruits, hires, mentors, disciplines and terminates staff when necessary.
Prepares and presents performance evaluations. Assesses and responds to educational needs of nursing and medical staff as a team and individually.
Focus on staff development, engagement recruitment and retention.
Develops, implements and enforces departmental policies and procedures. Assures compliance with all regulatory agency and professional organization standards.
Establishes, develops, implements, and maintains clinical and administrative quality improvement policies, procedures and standards to guide professional practice.
Make administrative decision and provide direction, supervision an assistance with operational issues for the Capitol Hill Campus in the absence of managers and during evening for 14 indirect hospital departments.
Respond to urgent hospital system needs during designated hours.
Continuously analyzes and evaluates patient care, environmental control, safety issues, and infection control practices in hospital unit.
Researches and resolves consumer and systems issues. Monitors, tracks and resolves accident / incident reports. Evaluates and supports implementation of new technology and equipment.
Resource to Materiel Management on product selection. Ensures adequate departmental systems and supplies.
Basic Qualifications :
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as an RN in an acute care hospital.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in supervision or lead / charge in a hospital.
Education
Bachelors degree in Nursing.
License, Certification, Registration
- Registered Nurse License (Washington)
- Basic Life Support

- Two (2) years of experience in an acute care setting
- One (1) year of experience in a Medical / Surgery and Telemetry unit
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to a hospital
- Experience with budget management
