Salary range : $39,312 - $47,195

General Description and Classification Standards
Perform semi-skilled construction and / or maintenance in support of a wide variety of building and grounds maintenance and building projects.
Operate hand and power tools, light to medium construction equipment, test and measurement equipment, etc. Generally works as a part of a work crew, but may work independently or lead a crew.
Work is performed in cooperation with skilled trades' employees, equipment operators, technicians, or crew supervisors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive;
may perform other duties as assigned.
- Works with supervisor to prioritize and complete assigned work orders in an efficient and effective manner. Works in a safe and organized manner to ensure safety for self, crew and the public and to complete assignments correctly and on time.
- Maintains a safe and organized work area; stores tools; collects scrap and leftover materials; performs general maintenance tasks for buildings, maintaining cleanliness and general readiness.
- Performs general maintenance tasks for grounds maintenance on DWM properties, including the removal of fallen tree limbs and debris;
mowing the grass; sweeping the sidewalks; drain gates, etc., blows debris from worksite.
- Weeds, prunes, and maintains flower beds and shrubs, applying fertilizer and other chemicals necessary for growth.
- Paints and repair's walls to include drywall and wallpaper.
- Repairs or assembles furniture and other office or outdoor equipment.
Leadership Provided
Routinely provides work group leadership, guidance, and / or training to less experienced staff. May lead or instruct less experienced workers in standard building and grounds maintenance activities.

Knowledge of : department policies and procedures; of methods, products, tools and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance and construction work.
Knowledge of basic mathematical principles.
- Ability to understand and apply pertinent policies, procedures and regulations; to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of an assignment;
- to perform maintenance activities involving skills in the functional fields to which assigned; to maintain records and make simple reports;
to work beyond normal working hours, as required.
Essential Capabilities and Work Environment
Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with job including ability to adapt to sometimes adverse weather conditions and repetitive actions
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- 3 years of progressive, responsible experience in building and grounds maintenance, or related field.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Completion of appropriate technical course or associates degree in Agronomy or related area
- 3 years' progressively responsible experience in grounds and building maintenance, or related field.
Licensures and Certifications
- Valid Georgia Commercial driver's license required.
- State of Georgia Pesticide Application License; preferred.
