As the MATERIALS MANAGER , you will be responsible for the following :
RESPONSIBILITIES :
People leader
o Apply and teach the lean principles of material pull systems to support customer requirements
o Effectively train all material staff ranging from clerks to managers
o Mentor, teach and lead employees to support solid succession planning and continually improve the depth of the team
o Perform layered audits and drive open items to closure
o Effectively communicate cross-functionally and with customers to plan launches, resolve issues and maintain CLI principles of operation
o Always be willing to help
Exceed customer expectations
o Establish / maintain effective KPI’s, monitor performance and initiate improvement opportunities
o Utilize / maintain PFEP (plan for every part)
o Turn data into business cases to ensure we make fact-based decisions
o Maintain accurate inventories and inventory control using techniques such as min-max and cycle count processes
o Manage and enforce material flow and traceability in a warehousing environment using scanning technology and visual management
o Manage the engineering change process to ensure breakpoints are achieved and communicated effectively
Resolve material shortages, overflow situations, and discrepant records effectively by root-cause analysis and then document continuous improvement
REQUIREMENTS :
Understanding of the business
o Proficient in Third Party Services including sequencing, kitting, repack, deconsolidation, and bulk and small lot metering
o Knowledge of Integrated Supply Chain Model (i.e. Part Sequencing, Sub Assembly, Cross Docking, operation management, logistics, warehousing, and material handling)
o Experience developing / implementing cross-functional metrics
o Lean material management principles focused on reducing waste and standardizing processes
o Demonstrated success in supply chain and logistics process improvement activities
o Understand the lean principles of material pull systems to support customer requirements
People skills
o Strong skills in managing salaried and hourly employees
o Exceptional customer interfacing skills
o Demonstrated team-building, leadership, talent development, and mentoring skills
Information Technology
o Proficient in Microsoft Office products to include : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
o Experience with material management features or modules in SAP would be an advantage
o Materials systems EXPERT (with multiple systems)
Other
o Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Strong analytical, problem solving, and follow up skills
o Proven skill in using data to make fact-based decisions and drive business cases approvals.
o Exceptional time management, program management, and organizational skills
o Travel is within a 20-mile radius
o Work long hours when required
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Material Management, Engineering required.
- APICS, CPIM, and Six Sigma certifications are an advantage.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Must have prior Warehousing, Logistics and / or 3PL experience
- Minimum of 6 years of management experience required
