Entry-Level GIS Specialist
Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level GIS Specialist in the Kansas City, MO area.
This position is expected to begin in August 2023.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :
- Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping
- Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting analysis, and presentation purposes
- Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components
- Use concepts, practices, and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients
- Support natural disasters incidents when they occur
- Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation
- May direct the work of Level I / II GIS Specialists. Responsibilities could include overall project or task management and quality review
- Independently executes and delivers GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity
- Utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information for new and ongoing FEMA floodplain mapping projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree In Geography, Environmental studies, and / or Geoscience studies
- Due to the nature of projects this position will support, US Citizenship or permanent residency is required
Preferred Qualifications :
- Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS mapping products
- Knowledge of the FEMA Regulatory Mapping process and FEMA Guidelines and Standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping is highly preferred
- HEC-RAS experience is preferred
- Academic coursework, and or 1-2 internship cycles of experience in ArcGIS is preferred
- Experience with the FEMA Risk Map Program is highly preferred
