Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level GIS Specialist in the Kansas City, MO area.
This position is expected to begin in August 2023.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :
Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping
Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting analysis, and presentation purposes
Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components
Use concepts, practices, and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients
Support natural disasters incidents when they occur
Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation
May direct the work of Level I / II GIS Specialists. Responsibilities could include overall project or task management and quality review
Independently executes and delivers GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity
Utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information for new and ongoing FEMA floodplain mapping projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree In Geography, Environmental studies, and / or Geoscience studies
Due to the nature of projects this position will support, US Citizenship or permanent residency is required
Preferred Qualifications :
Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS mapping products
Knowledge of the FEMA Regulatory Mapping process and FEMA Guidelines and Standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping is highly preferred
HEC-RAS experience is preferred
Academic coursework, and or 1-2 internship cycles of experience in ArcGIS is preferred
Experience with the FEMA Risk Map Program is highly preferred
