Marine Electrician
Description :
- Cable installation, termination experience onboard US Navy vessels.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and written technical instructions, manuals and draw / make basic working diagrams and circuits.
- Fully versed in the use of all types of electrical measuring instruments and various electronic measuring devices, such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and power analyzers.
- Perform hardwire copper hook ups
- Ability to use the following measuring tools : Fluke 87 DMM, Simpson 260, Digital Megohmmeter, and Clamp-On Ammeter.
- Able to perform simple Electrical disconnects and have the capacity to interpret multimeter usage and functions.
- Understand the process of Energized Electrical work chits and the process to obtain and perform Electrical Energized work chits;
understanding the Safety requirements of carrying them out.
- Understand the requirements of NSTM Chapter 300 concerning Electrical Safety.
- Perform basic functions of Electrical tool checkout, repair and verification of equipment Electrical Safe Integrity.
- Develops, submits, and closes out WAFS, to include verification and concurrence of all necessary tag out requirements to safely perform necessary work.
Must qualify in company lockout tag out program.)
- Safely disconnects and reconnects electrical equipment; effectively completing equipment disconnect documents as required.
- Demonstrates the ability to accurately follow work item specifications.
- Receive initial instructions and equipment requirements, as needed; perform recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
- Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
- Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
- Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications.
- Perform routine tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operates and adjusts simple test equipment; records test data.
- Gather and maintains specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performs computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas;
plots data and draws simple curves and graphs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications :
- 2-5 years of Marine Electrician experience
- Must possess general hand tools as well as those common to electrical maintenance personnel (, amperage / volt meters, grounding tools, wire strippers / crimpers, etc.)
- Connector certifications a plus but not mandatory.
