Job Summary
The Delivery Representative is a key point of contact for customers and must be committed to meeting the needs of all customers.
Delivery Representatives are safe, dedicated, and responsible people who can excel in a fast-paced work environment and possess exceptional customer service skills.
Delivery Representatives should be equipped with the technical skills to safely operate both propane and large cylinder trucks, as well as fill and deliver propane tanks, large cylinders, and gas grill cylinders.
They are responsible for making safe deliveries to residential, commercial / retail, and industrial customers. Delivery Representatives are expected to operate on a rotating on call schedule to cover any off-hour customer emergencies and may work non-traditional schedules to meet customer demands.
- Delivery representatives will be provided voluntary opportunities to travel domestically to deliver to locations across the country.
- Candidates should ideally have experience driving single / dual axel bulk, beverage and / or flatbed trucks and propane / fuel experience is a plus.
- Within first six months in the position, incumbent must meet training and certification requirements for delivery work.
- Training for basic service work will be provided.
- Delivery Representatives must possess a safety mindset beyond any other attribute, which means they must demonstrate in all circumstances an understanding of the importance of safety to the company, consider the impact on safety when making decisions and model safety practices in a predominately remote working environment.
- Delivery Representatives must demonstrate high professional and personal standards, which includes but is not limited to treating all people fairly and with respect and handling confidential information appropriately.
- Delivery Representatives must have strong communication skills, which means they must be able to listen and respond appropriately to others and be able to articulate ideas clearly, persuasively, and concisely.
- Delivery Representatives must meet commitments, which means they are expected to see issues through to completion, to check with appropriate parties to ensure issues have been completely resolved, to find ways to overcome barriers that initially prevents oneself from immediately solving problems and getting the job done.
- Delivery Representatives work as part of a team and therefore must contribute to the team’s success. This means they are expected to collaborate effectively with others, complete work to enable the team to meet deadlines, shares relevant information, and solicit feedback from others
Essential Functions :
- Access the work areas
- Prepare a delivery vehicle for use
- Operate a delivery vehicle between AmeriGas facilities and customer locations
- Load / unload cylinders at an AmeriGas facility using either a flatbed truck at dock height or a cylinder truck
- Exchange cylinders between a flatbed truck or a cylinder truck and storage cages at customer locations
- Transfer propane into customer tanks
- Refill a bobtail truck with propane
- Operate a forklift
- Performs all daily functions in a safe manner by adhering to all federal and state codes and regulations, in addition to all AmeriGas Safety and Operations Policies and Procedures, utilizing all Personal Protective Equipment
- Proactively identifies and reports safety concerns and violations at the plant or customer sites
- Exceeds customer expectations and sustains high levels of customer satisfaction; seeks customer feedback and ensures their needs have been fully met
- Cooperates and collaborates with co-workers to ensure the job gets done
- Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely manner
- Assist with customary district maintenance / housekeeping and other duties as assigned such as repairing and re-qualifying cylinders, yard work, etc.
- Perform critical demands / tasks in Work FIT screen as well as tasks in Functional Job Description (available to review upon request to Human Resources)
- Ability to navigate an iPad and / or iPhone
Minimum Qualifications :
- When applicable, required federal, state and local licenses / permits / certifications for work being performed
- Valid CDL with HazMat and Air Brake endorsements
- At least 21 years old per regulatory requirement
