Description
Develops and manages innovative services designed to assist students with medical, psychological, psychiatric, social, financial and academic needs.
- Serves as the liaison to the Counseling Center, Student Health Center and various University departments and individuals to consult and advise on student mental health-related matters.
- Performs evaluations to determine the student's needs, formulates goals and designs plans to resolve problems.
- Determines the type of intervention needed, utilizing campus and community resources. Partners with the Student Health Center and Counseling Center to aid in problem resolution and makes referrals as needed;
involves parents / guardians as appropriate.
- Maintains a directory of health related community resources available to students including resources for students with financial and / or transportation needs.
- Develops and administers training workshops on crisis management.
- Maintains case records and prepares statistical reports as needed.
- Serves on committees as a representative of the unit as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.

The Center for Student Empowerment Care Coordinator Role and Responsibilities :
The CSE Care Coordinator is a Division of Student Affairs professional staff member and fills various roles in support of department programming, support services, and initiatives.
For many individuals, significant barriers continue to exist for underserved populations to access quality mental health care.
As a member of the CSE staff, they will provide consultation and advisement on student mental health-related matters and primarily lead in the assessment, referral and case management of various student challenges that are based around their mental health.
The CSE Care Coordinator is the programs primary liaison to on campus departments and community-based organizations and receives referrals from these and other entities.
This person interacts regularly with student support systems to include parents / guardians, mental health professionals, hospitals and social service agencies, and various members of the University community.
The CSE Care Coordinator works to assist in the resolution of student queries and concerns regarding physical, mental, social, familial, academic, disciplinary, economic, and other areas affecting their matriculation at the University.
Care Coordinator Responsibilities :
- Collect, evaluate and record all facts pertaining to student cases
- Perform psycho / social evaluations in an effort to determine students' needs
- Formulate intervention plans designed to minimize and / or resolve problems
- Contact and collaborate with other University departments
- Provide referrals to University and community agencies
- Maintain factual case records and prepare necessary statistical reports in conjunction with state agencies and compliance
- Maintain a directory of community resources available to students
- Assist students with social services needs including, but not limited to : referral to community resources, and crisis intervention
- Provide medical or mental health resource for students with financial and / or transportation barriers
- Perform other general or specific duties as assigned by the Center for Student Empowerment
Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work, psychology or related field
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor
- Minimum of 3 years full-time professional experience; higher education experience preferred
- Strong administrative and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
Addendum
- Assume duty foster care living learning community
- Participate in campus activities within the Division of Student Affairs (Orientation, Leadership Programs, Homecoming, Convocation, etc.)
- Periodically review prior cases to verify compliance and / or case closure
- Assist students with social services needs including, but not limited to : referral to community resources, and crisis intervention
Qualifications
Masters and 3 years experience
Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge.
Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.
