Senior IT System Specialist (Aviation Information Systems)
Job Description
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, servers, network devices, and software applications to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to hardware, software, and network infrastructure, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Manage and monitor the organizations IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, and virtualization technologies, to ensure stability, scalability, and security.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and patch management activities in collaboration with the IT team, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including access controls, data encryption, vulnerability assessments, and security incident response procedures.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, perform regular backups, and conduct tests to ensure data integrity and efficient recovery in case of system failures or disasters.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff, sharing technical knowledge and best practices. Serve as a subject matter expert in IT systems and contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of new technologies.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers, managing relationships, evaluating performance, and ensuring service level agreements are met.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps. Share knowledge and provide training to end-users and IT team members.
- Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to recommend and implement innovative solutions that enhance system performance and security.
Requirements
Qualifications :
- Education : A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT system administration, infrastructure management, and technical support roles, with a focus on complex enterprise environments.
- Expertise in managing and supporting Windows and / or Linux server environments, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls), and storage systems.
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking services. Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- 5 years of experience with SITA Com-Net Multi User Flight Information Display System (MUFIDS), SITA Common Use Passenger Processing (CUPPS), SITA Common Use Self-Service (CUSS), SITA Resource Management System (RMS), SITA Automated Passport Control (APC), lED Paging System, GCR Airport IQ Operations Centers.
- Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions to complex technical issues.
- Deep understanding of IT security principles, best practices, and frameworks. Experience implementing and managing security controls, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong documentation skills.
Requirements
Qualifications : Extensive experience working with Avaya telecommunication systems, including Avaya PodFx, Avaya Aura Communication Manager,Avaya Experience Portal and Avaya Aura Conferencing.
In-depth knowledge of call center operations, telephony protocols (SIP, H.323, etc.), and voice network connectivity in the aviation industry.
Proven experience in Avaya system administration, troubleshooting, and optimization. Configure, deploy and manage Cisco Core switches and Cisco Security platforms.
Must have extensive knowledge of Mutare Message Mirror and Mutare Voice Forms as it relates to the Avaya platform. Familiarity with integration of Avaya systems with other aviation-related systems, such as airline reservation systems or flight operations systems.
Strong understanding of telecommunication network architectures and protocols. Experience in system design, implementation, and upgrades.
Knowledge of security measures and compliance standards in the telecommunications field. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Relevant certifications, such as Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist (ACIS) or Avaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS), are highly desirable.
