Design Group is recruiting for a Junior Art Director in our NYC location. As a Junior Art Director, you will work on photography shoots, page design and image manipulation for all sewing pattern brands. WHAT WILL I DO IN THIS ROLE? Help plan photography shoots and final designs (packaging, product pages, editorial, etc.) Visualize and execute set designs for photography shoots. Build customized props, backdrops, and sets for photography shoots. Assist in sourcing props for photo shoots. Assist on fashion photo shoots (ordering lunch, creating vouchers for models, answering the door for models, etc.) Keep props and prop closets clean and organized. Provide input on photography editing after shoots. Instruct page builder or design product pages, envelopes, promotional items and other sewing pattern collateral (cabinet cards, web images, box outs, etc.) Design and / or build editorial and product pages for catalogs when needed. Work with prepress to create web graphics and prep images in multiple formats for various web usage. Collect data and keep track of Statistical Process Control program to identify and correct errors. Retouch and reformat images as requested. Serve as backup to art director, page builders and prepress when needed. WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED? Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or equivalent level of on-the-job training. 2-3 years of relevant experience in the consumer goods industry including experience planning and executing fashion photoshoots. High level of skill, speed, and accuracy in the Macintosh platform including Adobe Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Microsoft Office products. Experience designing for Mass Market Major Retailers is a plus. Creative and solution-driven with the ability to multi-task. Deadline conscious and detail oriented with the ability to self-direct priorities. Strong communication skills. WHAT DOES DESIGN GROUP OFFER ME? Position Overview : The Associate Art Director will focus on executing technical production and collaborating with the creative team to ensure the successful execution of various art and design projects. They will assist in overseeing the technical aspects of the production process, ensuring that the creative vision is translated into high-quality deliverables across different mediums. The Associate Art Director will work closely with the Creative Director, project managers, designers, and other stakeholders to meet project goals and maintain a seamless production workflow. This hybrid position requires regular on-site attendance in our Brooklyn, NY creative studio. The targeted budget for this position is $60k-80k. This compensation budget range may be adjusted at any time at the discretion of the company. Maintain accurate documentation of project progress, technical specifications, and production guidelines. Generate reports as necessary to provide insights into production metrics, timelines, and resource allocation. Collaborate with photographers, videographers, stylists, and other relevant professionals to ensure the successful creation of visual assets that align with the project's objectives and creative vision. Take an active role in the post-production process, including image retouching, color correction, video editing, and other enhancements. Ensure that the final output meets quality standards and effectively communicates the intended message or brand identity. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to technical production. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in a related field such as graphic design, visual arts, or a relevant technical discipline, preferred. 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an advertising agency, design studio, or in-house creative department. Proficient knowledge of design software and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. and other relevant production software. Robust technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues effectively. Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout composition. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and quality standards.
