Shuttle Driver

Summary
Under the direction of the Line-Off Supervisor and Team Leader's instructions, this position will conduct safe, efficient vehicle movement and parking as well as to conduct preparations on new factory condition vehicles for various stages of logistics processing.
Responsibilities
Drives new finished-product vehicles to designated locations Drive and park vehicles per the Transportation & Handling Manual Drive vehicles following a set schedule or route Drivers must have the stamina to sit for several hours at a time, and the hand-eye coordination to operate their vehicles while watching their surroundings to maximize safety Maintain constant contact with the Team Leader and keep track of pickup and drop-off locations as necessary Before driving vehicles, inspect vehicles to ensure that it is damage-free and functioning correctly Must follow all Port traffic policies and posted speed limits Any unsafe conditions or road hazards encountered must be reported to management If their vehicle develops mechanical difficulties or sustains damage of any type, drivers must document the problems and report to management Read and understand parking location maps
Prepares vehicles for various stages of processing Performs various yard activities as directed : Performs tire pressure checks using a hand-held pressure gauge Performs battery condition checks using hand-held equipment Drives vehicles on / off conveyors Removes exterior / interior plastic protective wrap Drives vehicles to fueling stations and through automated car washes Remove trash from vehicles Complete checklists as required
All other duties as assigned under Shuttle Driver including, but not limited to : Driver FIL Driver UBC-Plant Driver Shuttle-Plant-UBC Shuttle-UBC-Storage, PIO, VPC Conveyor Driver PIO Driver Van Driver Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Skills
Must be willing and able to cross-train in other departmental needs
Requires flexibility with schedule including break times as well as working extended hours, weekends, and holidays
Ability to read and write
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Good depth perception and hand-eye coordination
Ability to drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles
Ability to record and verify numbers 17 characters in length
Must have demonstrated mechanical abilities
Must have a general knowledge of automobile components
Education & Experience
High School Diploma / G.E.D
Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions
1 year of experience required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experienced in mechanical, installation experience in a port-processing environment preferred
