The Employbridge Search Group is excited to partner with our client to source and hire a Mechanical Engineer for their location in Chicago, IL .
The Mechanical Engineer will Create industrial machines for an OEM supplier utilizing machine design, project management, and Solid Works 3D CAD modeling skills.
Projects range from modifications of existing designs to custom solutions for customer needs. Produce a mechanical model, drawings, and bill of material package for production to build.
Responsibilities :
LEAN design / Design for Manufacturing. Balance the quality and longevity of a design choice against the cost and time to make and / or purchase.
Manufacturing Engineering. Develop manufacturing methods. Guide fabrication, machining, assembly, and operation of product designs.
Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and provide engineered
Creation of clear and concise prints. Knowledge of principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
Understanding and proven application of LEAN design principles.
Design for manufacturing (Machining, Fabrication, and Assembly)
Ability to perform mechanical engineering calculations related to statics, dynamics, kinematics, and stress and strain through the use of free body diagrams.
Purchased component selection for bearings, belt drives, gears, chain drives, linear slides, gear Hydraulic and pneumatic motor selection.
Experience designing and applying tolerances to parts machined on mills and lathes.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Create and conduct test procedures to validate designs.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
General knowledge of electronic equipment, PLC and HMI programming a plus.
Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
Qualifications :
BS Mechanical Engineering Degree from accredited school
Must have 3 - 7 years' experience with designing and drafting of machinery
Proficient with Solid Works 3D CAD software
ANSYS finite element analysis FEA a plus.

The Production Supervisor will supervise, organize, directs and measures all activities within the production department to achieve the highest levels of safety, service, quality, and productivity for a designated shift.
Responsibilities :
Motivates, coaches and develops the production team to deliver optimal results, continuous improvement, profitability, quality, service and overall operational excellence.
Communicates performance expectations and delivers feedback as required.
Plans and manages, with the input of the Focus Factory Managers, the activities of the production workforce, including permanent and temporary employees, to ensure production schedules are met within quality, safety and operational standards.
Identifies, leads, and drives opportunities around equipment and / or methods to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), LEAN manufacturing principles, labor utilization and quality requirements.
Controls operational costs, including but not limited to standard labor costs, inventory costs, scrap rates and equipment downtime, to ensure the production department operates within the set budget.
Coordinates with other departments on planning and scheduling production runs, changeov ers, preventative maintenance and work order assignments and other related activities.
Collaborates with the Focus Factory Managers to establish and / or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs) and best practices for the production department.
Directs and performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company's quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, includes maintaining a clean and orderly production area at all times.
Coordinates and participates in root cause analysis on OEE shortfalls. Develops and executes corrective actions that improve equipment performance, cost, quality, and customer service.
Follows, promotes and enforces company safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures.
Assists with safety investigations and corrective actions related to safety hazards and / or incidents.
Contributes to the company training plan and drives the execution of training to ensure all production employees have received necessary training and are following all applicable SOP's, Work Instructions, and GMP procedures
Qualifications :
Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field highly preferred. In lieu of degree, two years of experience in manufacturing and regulated environment considered.
Two years supervisory experience required, preferably in a filling and packaging environment.
SAP and HMI experience strongly preferred.
Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles.
Ability to effectively build and lead a high-performing and engaged team.
Strong oral and written communication skills, leadership skills and organizational skills.
Self-starter with strong work ethic, positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
Strong communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, team building and organizational skills.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and manage time efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties :
Leads the facility maintenance function by providing technical support and operational guidance to both management & personnel
Collaborate with operations management on the direction of the maintenance work force, ensuring equipment attains maximum up-time with the highest level of quality.
Negotiate, select and collaborate with vendors for repairs, ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget
Oversee the design, layout, installation, modification and upgrading of equipment
Ensure effective maintenance programs and procedures, including preventative maintenance, are in place and followed ensuring equipment repairs are completed with minimal down time
Drive expertise, training, and sustainment of the Maintenance Connection systems and other software and records necessary to manage in an operational environment
Manage, assist with, or influence the procurement of new equipment and / or spare parts
Evaluate improvement opportunities, develop solutions and / or determine modifications necessary for existing and new equipment to improve machinery functions or processes

Qualifications
Degree in a technical field or equal experience would be consider.
5+ years experience in an automated manufacturing or distribution environment
5+ years experience managing inventory and budgets for a manufacturing facility or large distribution center
Must have extensive technical knowledge to repair, replace and / or troubleshoot machinery (pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyance, etc) and PLC instrumentation and hard-wired electrical devices in all areas of the distribution center
Strong electrical experience to include troubleshooting and repairing high voltage equipment, over 480 volts
Ability to read, interpret and train others on safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write moderately complex reports and correspondence
Ability to manage others in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Must follow all safety rules and ensure subordinates comply with wearing required PPE
Capable to certify in DOT Hazardous materials transportation and RCRA hazardous materials
